On January 6, 2026, Prophet Dr. Mulindwa Jules, founder and leader of the City of Refuge Church (Mboka ya Ekimelo), delivered a powerful and patriotic message to Congolese people living abroad in Europe, Asia, America, and other parts of the world.
During his interview with independent journalist Professor Kalonji Wa Mulumba, the spiritual leader began his address with a well-known French proverb:
« Les linges sales se lavent en famille », which can be translated as “Dirty laundry should be washed within the family” or “Don’t air dirty laundry in public.”
Drawing from this proverb, the prophet strongly criticized the behavior of some Congolese who, according to him, contribute to spreading a negative image of their country abroad. He emphasized that Congolese people, whether at home or in the diaspora, are often responsible for attracting misfortune upon themselves through disobedience.
“My fellow Congolese, you should read the Bible and strive to understand it. Do you really think that other nations have better presidents than ours? More often than not, it is Congolese themselves who insult their president by every possible means,” he stated.
Prophet Dr. Mulindwa Jules further explained that no president is flawless and that, in some cases, leaders in other countries are far worse than people imagine. However, he noted that citizens of those nations rarely insult or publicly expose their leaders the way Congolese people do.
Addressing criticisms that portray President Félix Tshisekedi as merely the president of the Baluba tribe because of his ethnic background, the prophet approached the issue from a spiritual perspective, using concrete analogies drawn from various cultures. He argued that Congolese people should speak of their president with pride and embrace a sense of collective identity.
“As I speak now, all Congolese have become Baluba. If you refuse to become Muluba, then go and find your own Congo. Every child inherits the identity and tribe of their father. The father of the nation today is Fatshi Béton, who is Muluba; therefore, as his children, we are all Baluba. During Mobutu’s time, we were all Bangala. Under Kasavubu, we were all Bakongo. During the reign of Mzee Kabila, we were all Balubakati-Baswahili. And whoever becomes the next president will become our father,” he explained.
According to Prophet Dr. Mulindwa Jules, disobedience is at the root of killings and other tragic events affecting the country. He recalled biblical teachings that state that a child who obeys their parents will enjoy long life.
“Congolese people are attracting death upon themselves, and I am speaking as a prophet,” he warned.
He further stressed that God operates according to principles and does not act arbitrarily. If God chooses a leader, it is done intentionally.
“We have many educated people in this country, holders of doctoral degrees and university professors; yet God chose Félix Tshisekedi. Why not ask yourselves why and come to terms with God’s will?” he asked.
In conclusion, the prophet advised members of the Congolese diaspora to express their concerns through appropriate institutional channels. He reminded them of the existence of a government ministry responsible for Congolese living abroad.
“If something is not going well in the country, it is wise to contact the ministry and share your concerns. Do not expose the weaknesses of our authorities publicly,” he concluded.
The man of God finally called on the Congolese diaspora to actively participate in rebuilding the nation and to consistently promote a positive image of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
