DRC: Over 60,000 Families Facing Chaos in Lubero

More than 60,000 families, registered by civil society organizations, are struggling to survive in Mangurujipa, an entity located in Lubero Territory in the Democratic Republic of Congo, following a series of killings orchestrated by ADF–MTM terrorists.

The situation has persisted for several years in this area, which remains under the control of the FARDC–UPDF coalition, according to Aimé Mukanda, a human rights defender in North Kivu Province.

Repeated ADF attacks have forced thousands of families from their homes, leaving them without access to their farms or basic needs. Among those displaced and now returning are children, pregnant women, and people with disabilities.

Mukanda is appealing to humanitarian organizations and the Congolese government in Kinshasa to provide urgent assistance to these forgotten people, who are living in inhumane conditions.

He also urged members of parliament elected from the region to advocate on behalf of their suffering constituents, and called on both the Congolese army and Ugandan forces deployed in the area to intensify efforts to restore peace and stability so that civilians can once again live in safety.

As a reminder, ADF terrorists recently killed more than 160 civilians in the nearby village of Ntoyo.
