On February 1, 2026, the African Observatory for Positive Sanction (OASP), an international organization dedicated to the promotion of peace, development, and human values, awarded Prophet Dr. Mulindwa Jules with the World Grand Peace Prize. The distinction elevates the founder of City of Refuge Church to the rank of Great Ambassador for Peace.
The award ceremony was held at City of Refuge Church in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo, and was attended by a delegation of more than ten university professors and government officials. The event drew a large audience and was described by organizers as a significant moment for peace advocacy in the country.
For several years, amid persistent conflict in the DRC and the Great Lakes region, Prophet Dr. Mulindwa Jules has remained firm in his stance, advocating for peace, reconciliation, and national cohesion through his teachings and actions.
In a speech by the OASP’s General Commissioner, Professor Jacques André Muyeje, read by Professor Esther Landu, the organization described Prophet Mulindwa Jules as “a man of faith, deeply attached to truth, even when that truth is painful.”
“He is, above all, a simple patriot, a man committed to peace. For this reason, our organization bestows upon him the World Grand Peace Prize,” the statement read.

According to OASP, several criteria guided the decision to honor Prophet Dr. Mulindwa Jules. These include community leadership, a strong personality, generosity and solidarity, a sense of duty, creativity, promotion of moral values, detachment from materialism, good governance, fidelity to community commitments, responsibility, contribution to development, discipline, credibility, rigor, integrity, justice, equity, and simplicity. The organization also highlighted his commitment to peace and his attachment to both Congo-Kinshasa and Congo-Brazzaville, which it described as closely linked nations.
Additional criteria cited by OASP included respect for women’s rights, respect for family values, adherence to constitutional order and public authorities, a clean criminal record, respect for his congregation, and what the organization described as the veracity of his prophecies and healing miracles.
During the ceremony, several symbolic emblems were presented to the laureate. Among them was a white ribbon inscribed in red, symbolizing peace and martyrdom, in reference to the personal sacrifices he has made over the years in advocating for peace. Other emblems bore the inscription: “Prophet Dr. Jules Mulindwa Tulinayo World Grand Peace Prize.”

Speaking during the event, Professor Jacques André Muyeje explained the organization’s choice:
“There are many churches in this country that were founded long before his, but we chose him because of his firmness and the unique way he has dedicated his ministry to preaching peace and social cohesion.”
In his address, Prophet Dr. Mulindwa Jules expressed gratitude to OASP for recognizing his efforts and pledged to continue his commitment spiritually, financially, and physically to the cause of peace. He dedicated the award to his wife, his congregation, and, with particular emphasis, to President Félix Tshisekedi.
“Félix Tshisekedi is a brave president. He publicly denounced the enemies of our country on the international stage. I dedicate this award to him,” he said.
Journalist Rose, from the national broadcaster RTNC, also paid tribute to Prophet Mulindwa Jules, describing him as a fearless advocate for national awareness and patriotism. She highlighted his consistent calls for prayer for public authorities rather than public hostility toward them.
She recalled several key moments illustrating his leadership. In 2013, days before the defeat of the first wave of the M23 rebellion, Prophet Mulindwa Jules traveled to Bunagana, where he handed over a Congolese flag, seven cows, and supplies of drinking water to the national army as a sign of support. He reportedly told the soldiers that the war was nearing its end. Weeks later, calm was restored in eastern Congo.
In Kinshasa, he organized several marches in support of government peace efforts and contributed 200 million Congolese francs to support the armed forces. He also publicly declared that peace was approaching. Months later, a peace agreement was signed in Washington, D.C., between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda under international mediation.
“Prophet Dr. Mulindwa Jules continued to proclaim peace when few believed in it,” said the journalist. “Yet after each major initiative, we witnessed tangible change and progress.”
As a reminder, in November 2025, Prophet Mulindwa Jules had declared that 2026 would be a year of peace. The award ceremony was met with widespread enthusiasm among members of City of Refuge Church and was perceived as a success not only for the laureate, but also as a symbolic victory for the nation.
