Have you ever felt hopeless,
Crushed beneath the weight of silence.
With no hand reaching out,
Even when you’re right?
Have stood before giants,
Their power too great to fight,
Forcing you to walk a path That stains your soul for life?
They came with their demands,
Dark whispers in your ear.
And when you turned away,
They threatened those you love.
And they meant it.
So out of fear, you agreed,
Hoping to keep the safe.
But in the end,
they took them anyway
Living you with nothing
But the echoes of their scream.
You cry for justice,
But justice is blind
Or worse, it sees,
And turns away.
They told us no one is above the law.
And we believed it.
But it was a lie. Once a wise man said: “Alie nacho hulindwa, asiye nacho hudharauliwa.”
For when you stand before the courts,
Seeking truth, seeking vengeance,
You find the one you accuse
Is the one who holds the gavel.
And so, I have learned,
There is justice the system cannot provide.
But justice must be made anyway.
