Betrayed by Blood and Love

Odette and Jacob had been married for three years in Goma city, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A smile often tugged at their lips, bright and unstoppable, for God had blessed them with a beautiful little boy who seemed to make their love even stronger.

But life was not easy. Their survival depended 98% on Jacob’s family since Jacob had no job. Yet, this struggle did not shake their love. They supported each other, trusted each other… at least Jacob thought so. He never imagined life without Odette. But Odette, deep inside, lived in hypocrisy, hiding what Jacob could not even begin to suspect.

In July 2025, an IT engineer from the United States arrived in Goma. He started a daring show called Loyalty, where couples handed over their phones to test their faithfulness.

One day, the engineer met Odette and Jacob. He asked them to hand over their phones. Jacob was so confident that he even tried to refuse, saying it was a waste of time he believed with all his heart that Odette would never betray him. Finally, he agreed.

The engineer began with Jacob’s phone. Nothing suspicious. Jacob smiled proudly. But when it came to Odette’s turn, she hesitated. She spoke so sweetly, with words so persuasive, that one could almost believe she was above suspicion. She took her phone in her hand and stalled, deleting messages that could expose her.

The engineer noticed, but allowed her to continue, he knew he could still read deleted messages. At last, Odette surrendered her phone. He began checking, and what he discovered was beyond belief.

He called Jacob aside and showed him the messages. Odette had been chatting with someone saved as Dad. The first message shook Jacob to the core:

Odette: “My pussy is itching, I think I have an infection. Have you slept with anyone this week?”
Dad: “Not really. You’re the only one I met this week.”

Jacob’s heartbeat changed its rhythm. His chest tightened, his heart jumped. He quickly checked his own phone, searching the number. His worst fear was confirmed: the number belonged to his father. Odette was having an affair with her father-in-law.

A heavy silence pressed on Jacob’s chest like a stone. His world collapsed in seconds.

When Odette was confronted, she tried to justify herself, but it was too late. The engineer asked her bitterly: “How dare you eat the goat and its kid?”

Jacob’s voice cracked with anger: “I trusted you, Odette. How could you do this and with my own father?”

With shocking carelessness she replied: “Don’t talk to me about trust. I gave you a child.”

Jacob screamed: “How can I even be sure the child is mine after all this? You think giving me a child gives you the right to cheat with my father?”

Odette, instead of apologizing, doubled down. “Since the truth is out, let me say everything. I’ve been with your dad, I’ve been with your elder brother… and I don’t regret it. Marrying you was a favor. Just look at me. Do you really think I could settle for a man like you?

She laughed in his face, full of disrespect, as if to say he was not man enough.

Jacob’s tears flowed. “What are you saying to me, Odette? I loved you…

She continued with cruelty: “Yes, you loved me, but love doesn’t feed children. Your father provides everything we have. You’re a man who burnt his passport instead of going abroad to study. Your brother is a lawyer, your sister is married in Sweden. And you? Nothing. Even in family meetings, they ask you to open the gate like a servant. That’s the kind of man you are.

Jacob’s heart broke into pieces. He realized that his wife had seen him as a failure all along.

The engineer, who had been silent, finally asked: “Then why did you even marry Jacob in the first place?

She replied coldly: “I thought he was intelligent and stable. Later I discovered he was useless. Whether the child belongs to him, his father, or his brother doesn’t matter. All that matters is the child belongs to this family. Even his father told me to take care of Jacob, because without me, he wouldn’t survive.”

At that moment, Jacob cursed under his breath: “The only love I respect in this family is my mother’s… my father is nothing but a disgrace.”

Odette, as if that was not enough, added: “Your father even doubts you are his real son. He doesn’t believe such weak genes could come from him.”

Jacob collapsed into bitterness. “So this is who you are, Odette? A woman who came into my family to sell herself and betray me?”

She smirked proudly: “Yes. And I got what I wanted.”

Jacob, broken and trembling, whispered: “I loved you, Odette. But now I see I was wrong about you… and about my whole family.

He turned away, tears flooding his face. “Go and be with them all. I have nothing left to lose.

The love story of Jacob and Odette ended not in romance, but in betrayal, tears, and a man destroyed by the hypocrisy of his wife and the betrayal of his own blood.
